| My Short Bio | Tomi Streiff is a filmmaker, mushroom advocate, and environmental activist.
Made in Switzerland, Tomi has lived and worked across the globe. At New York University he studied Film, TV & Photography before founding Streiffschuss Films AG. The company has provided Production Services in Switzerland, the USA, Argentina, and finally Brazil.
Tomi has worked as a DP, director and screenwriter. (His romantic road moo-vie “The Wedding Cow” won 20 awards while screening at over 50 international film festivals on five continents.)
Streiffschuss Films is currently developing the feature film “Diplonapped” – A fictional political thriller based on a factual event during Brazil’s military dictatorship: The 1970 kidnapping of the Swiss ambassador to Rio de Janeiro. The story follows two very different women. One of his kidnappers, an Afro-Brazilian guerrilla and the ambassador’s niece, a Swiss journalist, who secretly join forces to free their loved ones. Together they reshape history as they become powerful, self-determined and politically active women. The main Swiss Producer is Dschoint Ventschr Filmproduktion, Switzerland.
Tomi is also the Managing Director of “Pro Fungi” Brazil & Switzerland, a non-profit association with the main goal to create the world’s first cultural center dedicated to Fungi: “Central dos Cogumelos” in Rio de Janeiro.
In addition, he is a co-founder of “Viva Livramento”, a neighborhood movement to transform Rua do Livramento, one of Rio’s most neglected streets, into a green model for the urban renewal of the city. The main focus is the arborization of this and other streets in the historic district of Pequena África.
