Saskia J Stuiveling

Saskia Stuiveling, born
in Hilversum on 3 May 1945, has been President of the Court of Audit
since May 1999. She has been a member of the Court's Board since 1984.
Before her appointment as member of the Court of Audit, Saskia Stuiveling
was responsible at the Dutch House of Representatives for coordinating
the parliamentary enquiry into the Rijn-Schelde-Verolme group. From
September 1981 to May 1982 she was State Secretary for the Interior
in the second Van Agt cabinet, before which she had been a member of
the Dutch Senate representing the Labour Party for several months.
After graduating in business administration at the Erasmus University
in Rotterdam, Ms Stuiveling worked as a management consultant, policy
advisor to the mayor of Rotterdam and deputy municipal ombudswoman.
Ms Stuiveling has held and still holds various administrative positions,
preferably in the fields of refugee aid and development cooperation,
art and culture, and health care. She also holds administrative positions
in and around Rotterdam.
She is Eisenhower Exchange Fellow (1986), Knight in the Order of the
Netherlands Lion (1991) and Commander in the Bernado O'Higgens Order
of Merit (Chile, 1991).
